The 8 Messages of the Book of Jude
Jude is one of my favorite books. It’s short, punchy and gutsy. And (!) extremely relevant to us at the end of the age (considering he wrote his short epistle entirely under the shadow of the second coming).
Jude wrote to an audience who was being affected by false teaching related to the subject of “grace” (v. 4) and gave an unapologetic call to radical abandonment to Jesus by appealing to the judgment to be executed by Jesus at His appearing (v. 14-15). I love how these two subjects of grace and eschatology intersect with such prophetic and yet pastoral unction.
Eight times Jude gives a command. And eight times my heart leapt within me! I look forward to preaching through these 8 messages in the next few months. Here they are (each one is power packed):
1. Earnestly contend for the faith delivered by the apostles (v. 3)
2. Remember the teachings and warnings of the apostles concerning the second coming (v. 17)
3. Build yourselves up in the most holy faith (v. 20)
4. Pray in the Holy Spirit (v. 20)
5. Keep yourselves in the love of God (v. 21)
6. Look for the mercy of the Lord to bring you to eternal life (v. 21)
7. Show mercy to Christians who are doubting (v. 22)
8. Snatch unbelievers from the fire by cautiously show mercy to the corrupt (v. 22-23)
